Spotlight on Cyber Safety
Children and young people are using the internet, internet services, mobile multimedia, computers and mobile phones more than ever before. These technologies provide exciting possibilities for communicating, creativity, research and information. But there are also some problems emerging.

Cyberbullying and harassment, internet addiction, identity theft and access to inappropriate material for young minds are developing as significant issues potentially putting the safety and wellbeing of children and young people at risk and creating problems for schools and parents.

Over the next three years, the Telstra Foundation is putting a ‘spotlight’ on cyber safety. By committing $3 million over the next three years, our goal is to build the protective factors for children and young people to help them develop the skills needed to enjoy the use of information and communication technologies in safe, supported environments.

The Telstra Foundation’s spotlight on cyber safety supports two program areas:

Cyber Safety Grants – supports community programs that help keep kids safe online.

SuperClubsPLUS Australia – a protected online learning community and social network for 6 to 12 year olds.
