How do young Australians really experience the digital world?

The Australian Youth Digital Index (AYDI) exists to answer that question – and this short video is your guide to making the most of it.

Built with and for young people aged 8–25, the AYDI brings together national research, lived experience and practical insight across five key pillars: Access, Connectivity, Skills, Safety and Wellbeing. It includes a full research report, a powerful interactive data dashboard and supporting blogs that help turn insight into action.

In this video, you’ll see how the AYDI dashboard works in practice. From navigating the key findings and year‑on‑year index scores, to drilling into specific questions and demographics using filters. Whether you’re looking at age, gender or location, the dashboard automatically presents the data in the clearest visual format, making it easy to spot patterns, compare groups and track change over time.

The video also shows how the AYDI can be used in real‑world contexts. If you’re building a grant proposal, shaping policy, designing programs for the classroom, or simply want a stronger evidence base when talking about young people and technology, this tool is designed for you. You can export charts and stats directly into presentations, reports or briefs – ready to use, when you need them.

What makes the AYDI different is that it doesn’t just present numbers. Alongside the data, you’ll find blogs and articles that bring the findings to life with real stories and experiences from young Australians themselves. The aim is simple: to make sure youth voices are heard, understood and shared more widely.

🎥 Watch the video below to see how the Australian Youth Digital Index works, and how you can use it to better understand, support and advocate for young people in a connected world.
